What is erectile dysfunction/Impotence?
Erectile dysfunction is also known as Impotence. Wikipedia defines it as a type of sexual dysfunction in which the penis fails to become or stay erect during sexual activity. It’s the most common sexual problem men have and through its connection to self-image, male sexual dysfunction can have a huge psychological impact. Let’s explore this together.
Names for Erectile Dysfunction (Impotence)
There are many names for erectile dysfunction and soundly none of them are very flattering, which is probably why erectile dysfunction is the best fit. The idea of a ‘dysfunctional erectile’ causes me to think about a missile that is out of control and not responding to the normal commands, which I suppose is correct in a very literal sense. Impotence which is another name for male sexual dysfunction is a subject that I’ll cover later in this article, as this particular word led to a very unusual, yet successful treatment for one particular client.
Barrenness, droopiness, in-fecundity, infertility, stereotype, unproductiveness, fragility, childlessness, emasculated, fruitlessness, heredity, poverty, fruitless, sterile, subfertility, pointlessness, ineffectiveness, uselessness, hollowness, worthlessness, vanity, ineffectuality, emptiness, inefficacy, failure, forlornness, unprofitability, meaningless, helplessness, bootlessness, abortiveness, unimportance triviality, valuelessness, meaninglessness, senselessness, vainness, unprofitableness, futility, frivolousness, idleness, spitting in the wind.
As you can see, all of the above are suggestive of failure, which can lead to the thoughts of apathy. This loop can quickly impact your self-esteem and feelings of self-worth, you just don’t feel that you are a man anymore.
How erectile dysfunction affects relationships, marriages, affairs, new partners.
Impotence can have a harmful impact on relationships, as the penis is unable to become aroused or there is a failure to maintain an erection. Your partner may think that you don’t love them, you find them unattractive or ugly, perhaps you may even be thinking about leaving them for someone else! It’s easy to see just how quickly one bad thought can lead to another, which actually puts even more pressure on the man to perform.
Maybe you have grown bored with your partner and unconsciously you don’t want to bring those thoughts to the surface, so your body is deciding for you. The reduced libido can leave your partner feeling unattractive. You or your partner may decide to have an affair just so that you can get a sense of closeness in the arms of someone else, anyone else, just to feel needed. If you can overcome your impotence by having an affair, then you know that your relationship/marriage is the cause of your problem. The man has the added worry that his partner or wife will leave him or go off and have an affair, because he can’t perform in the bedroom.
In many ways Impotence can be seen as ‘performance anxiety’ the act of having sex requires the man to literally ‘stand tall’ if there is something bothering him mentally then this can greatly impact his performance. This is much the same as ‘stage fright’ or ‘the fear of public speaking’ as the time draws closer to perform, fear and anxiety run through your mind, instead of fun and excitement!
It’s very common for ED to occur with new partners. This is because your mind is still connected to the ending of the last relationship, you got hurt, so if you can’t consummate this relationship, then it will end quickly, and you won’t get hurt as much as last time. There is a logic to the unconscious process. Clearing the images of the betrayal from your mind through hypnosis can help with this. Many relationships and marriages end because of the strain erectile dysfunction/Impotence places upon the couple.
Just because you have erectile dysfunction ed/impotence, doesn’t mean that your sperm count is low or that you can’t contribute to your partner becoming pregnant. It just means using hypnosis to access that part of you that will allow your body to express yourself, pardon the pun!
Is Impotence permanent?
In a nutshell No! The average man has 3 to 5 erections per night while sleeping, so it’s not permanent. If you have been suffering from impotence for a day, a week, 2 weeks, 1 year, 2 years, 5 years or even 10 years do not be dismayed there is always a solution, somewhere. For most men it’s quite common for Impotence to come and go, it can be cured or reversed via the use of hypnosis as a treatment. There are even cases where yoga has helped to reverse the problem. Both of these treatments would lend themselves to relaxing the mind and destressing the body.
When Impotence occurs the first time, you probably will think nothing of it. When it starts to happen more regularly, then you know that you have Impotence. From your early 20’s it is normal to have erectile dysfunction on occasion, maybe you’ve been to a party and had too much to drink, so your mind is willing, but your body is weak! From your 30’s and in older males, Impotence can become more prevalent as the toll of 21st century life takes hold. Having said all of this, it’s still possible for a teenager to have Impotence, for similar reasons to the older male, ‘mental pressure’. The teenagers today are being constantly bombarded by the media and pressurised to act and behave a certain way. This has led to an increase in teenage suicides and an anxiety epidemic!
How erectile dysfunction can be treated.
ED can be treated with pills and drugs. Did you know that the safest way to treat it, without drugs and meds is through hypnosis. You may even be able to claim back your treatment or the invoice for your download if you are covered by insurance/medicare, or at the very least it may be tax deductible.
Often people come to this page when the Impotence drugs don’t work. The best way to treat Impotence in my honest opinion is via your mind. However, having a regular medical check will discount any physical causes and set your mind at rest. There are several drugs that you can take if you have diabetes and erectile dysfunction, the problem is with all drugs there can be side effects. Indeed, there are some drugs that actually cause erectile dysfunction as a side effect. Probably better to address your dietary needs and switch from sugar to a fat-based fuel source. Male sexual dysfunction when taking antidepressants can have an impact on your libido, as the drugs adjust your perception of reality. Blood pressure medication can also cause Impotence therefore using hypnosis can better relax your system and eliminates side effects from any medication.
If you are worried that your Impotence may be caused by :-
an enlarged prostate
smoking
any sign of cancer
heart failure
low testosterone
diabetes
covid
heart disease
high blood pressure
prostate cancer
incontinence
We would advise you seek urgent medical advice immediately.
Can erectile dysfunction be psychological?
There is a greater chance of your Impotence being psychological rather than physical. Research into adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) has shown that the correlation between ACEs and negative health outcomes, which was documented in the 1980s; weight gain was identified as a coping mechanism for adults who had experienced childhood sexual abuse. Later, the CDC-Kaiser-ACE study (n= 17,000) qualified: physical, sexual or emotional abuse, or neglect; exposure to domestic violence, substance abuse or mental illness; parental separation or incarceration.
Adverse childhood experiences were found to have a direct correlation with social, emotional and cognitive impairment; risky behaviours; disease, disability and death.
When you begin to examine just how fragile we really are, then you can see how the psychological can impact our physical self. Further studies on the impacts on stress/anxiety detail the same as above.
