Description

You may not know what happened. But your nervous system does.

Not all trauma arrives as a story you can consciously remember.

You may not know why a particular person unsettles you. Why success feels strangely unsafe. Why your body responds before you have had time to think. Why you repeatedly move towards the very things you say you want—and then find yourself pulling away.

You may have no clear memory of what happened.

You may not even recognise the response as trauma.

But an image, sound, sensation, spatial impression or fragment of meaning may still be presented to your nervous system as though “then” is happening now.

Chronologically, the event may be over. Physiologically, the prediction may remain current.

That is the difference between knowing something belongs to the past and your nervous system experiencing it as the past.

This isn’t simply another five-day course

This is not only about discovering how time may influence your health, wealth and wellbeing.

It is about spending five immersive days with Matt Hudson, creator of the Hudson Method.

Matt Hudson, creator of the Hudson Method and leader of the five-day It’s About Time practitioner programme.
Spend five immersive days learning directly from Matt Hudson, creator of the Hudson Method.

You will be learning directly from the man whose work is built around the possibility that meaningful change can happen in a Split-Second.

You will observe what Matt notices, how he listens, where the eyes move and how an Emotional Memory Image may reveal itself through imagery, sound, sensation and space.

But the real learning will not only be found in the teaching.

It will happen through the demonstrations, questions, conversations and unexpected moments that could never be reproduced in a recording or manual.

When “then” is experienced as “now”

The Hudson Method proposes that some present emotional and physiological responses may be driven by predictions formed during earlier overwhelming experiences.

An Emotional Memory Image does not have to be a complete autobiographical memory. It may appear as:

  • An image or visual fragment
  • A sound, word or tone of voice
  • A physical sensation
  • A spatial impression
  • A direction of gaze
  • A sudden emotion without an obvious cause
  • An urge to fight, flee, freeze or withdraw
  • A belief that feels true despite contrary evidence

When something in the present resembles an element of the earlier experience, the nervous system may respond before conscious thought has caught up.

The conscious mind then tries to explain a reaction that has already begun.

The calendar has moved on. The response has not necessarily received the message.

Time, health and the body

Persistent stress responses can affect far more than thoughts.

During these five days, we will explore how earlier emotional predictions may continue to influence stress, behaviour and the experience of physical discomfort.

This does not mean that every symptom is caused by trauma or that medical assessment should ever be replaced by psychological interpretation.

It means remaining curious about why a body may continue to prepare for danger when the conscious person cannot identify a current threat.

Time, wealth and success

Money is rarely only about money.

Success can become connected with visibility. Visibility can become connected with danger. Belonging may become associated with staying small, remaining quiet or never becoming more successful than the people whose approval once mattered.

Consciously, you may want growth.

Non-consciously, growth may predict rejection, exposure, responsibility or loss.

We will explore the unseen rules surrounding:

  • Success and safety
  • Visibility and criticism
  • Money and deserving
  • Achievement and belonging
  • Opportunity and threat
  • Receiving and guilt
  • Growth and fear of loss

Sometimes what appears to be self-sabotage is an old protective prediction doing precisely what it originally learned to do.

Time and wellbeing

You cannot be fully present when part of your nervous system is continually responding to what is no longer happening.

Over the five days, you will explore what may become possible when the nervous system begins to distinguish between:

  • Then and now
  • Memory and present reality
  • Prediction and evidence
  • Protection and possibility
  • Who you had to become and who you are becoming

This is not about denying the past.

It is about helping the past discover that it is past.

The five-day experience

Day One: When Then Becomes Now

Explore chronological time, nervous-system time and temporal mislocation.

You will begin to recognise how a response formed earlier in life may be activated in the present before conscious reasoning begins.

Day Two: Finding the Image

Discover how Emotional Memory Images may appear through imagery, sound, sensation, gaze and peripersonal space.

The aim is not to force a story or manufacture a memory. It is to notice what is already being presented.

Day Three: The Split-Second Prediction

Explore what happens in the moment before conscious thought constructs its explanation.

Learn to identify the prediction beneath the presenting problem and the protective response beneath what is often labelled resistance or self-sabotage.

Day Four: Split-Second Unlearning

Explore how an old prediction may be brought into contact with information it cannot fully explain.

The purpose is not to erase history. It is to help the nervous system discover that the present is different from the past.

Day Five: Living Next

Bring the learning together and explore how change can be carried into personal life and professional practice.

We will consider integration, future simulation, testing change and helping the nervous system enter what comes next without automatically recreating what came before.

Learn the Hudson Method at its source

This is not a script-based training in which everybody follows the same set of words.

You will spend five days observing how Matt works in real time and:

  • Listens beyond the conscious story
  • Recognises non-conscious communication
  • Notices eye movements and spatial positioning
  • Identifies an Emotional Memory Image
  • Distinguishes the presenting problem from the underlying prediction
  • Introduces new information
  • Tests whether something has genuinely changed
  • Responds when the unexpected happens

The programme is limited to 21 participants so that everyone has the opportunity to ask questions, participate and spend meaningful time with Matt.

Who is this programme for?

This five-day experience may be particularly valuable if:

  • You are a therapist, psychologist, doctor, physiotherapist, coach, educator or change practitioner.
  • You want to understand what may happen before conscious thought.
  • You recognise that insight alone does not always change an automatic response.
  • You want to explore the relationship between emotional memory, imagery, time and prediction.
  • You want direct access to the creator of the Hudson Method.
  • You are prepared to examine your own patterns as well as those of the people you support.
  • You are curious, open-minded and willing to have your assumptions challenged.

You do not need to arrive with a complete memory, explanation or personal story.

The absence of a conscious story does not necessarily mean the absence of a learned response.

The setting

Hotel Kaktus Albir, Costa Blanca

Now is not then.
